The Watson Chapel Board of Education announces openings for a Secondary English Teacher

Start Date:   August, 2024                                                                                  Work Schedule:   190 Days

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • English/Literacy License, Subject Specific Endorsement or enrolled in Alternative Program leading to license issued by Arkansas Department of Education
  • At least three years of experience as a classroom teacher
  • Must satisfactorily complete Bureau of Criminal Investigation background check.

Desired:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents/guardians, the community, institutions of higher education, business leaders, and administrative staff.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction, program evaluation, evidence of classroom effectiveness, budget management, and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state/federal regulations and accreditation requirements governing public education programs.
  • Ability to communicate oral and/or written ideas and directives clearly and effectively

 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment
  • To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth

  • Plans and deliver schemes of work and lessons that meet the requirements of grades 7-12
  • Inspires student to be actively interested in English
  • Maintains appropriate records and to provide relevant, accurate and up-to-date information
  • Completes the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of students
  • Sets expectations for staff and students in relation to standards of achievement and the quality of learning & teaching
  • Prioritizes and manage time effectively, ensuring continued professional development in line with the role
  • Follows the school policies and procedures
  • Ensures the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support
  • Maintains discipline in accordance with the school procedures and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behavior, standards of work and homework
  • Follows schemes of work for English at all Key Stages
  • Promotes aspects of Personal Development related to English
  • Updates professional knowledge and expertise as appropriate to keep up to date with developments in teaching practice and methodology, in general, and in the curriculum area of English
  • Promotes English learning through out of hours activities
  • Ensures a high quality learning environment within the English area
  • Leads, monitors and evaluates the assessment and feedback to students in line with whole school and department policy
  • Grades and gives written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required
  • Continues personal development in the relevant areas including subject knowledge and teaching methods
  • Takes part in the staff development program by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development
  • Assesses, records and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required
