Career Development Teacher:

 

The Career Development Teacher must have or apply for a 418 Career Development license endorsement, issued by ADE: DCTE. The license endorsement is available through the ADE: DCTE application process with mentorship through the cooperative CTE Coordinator for teachers actively teacher the course. Mentorship is a semester-long process.

 

The Career Development Teacher should have knowledge and a current ADE teaching license that includes Grades 7 and 8. Course 399280, Career Development, is considered to be a middle school elective grade for grades 7 and 8.

 

Career Development is an examination of careers using the 16 career clusters and other technology applications for students to analyze career planning, preparations, research and development. Students will be knowledgeable about that world of work, with job shadowing and career resource speakers available to offer career options, personal skills, aptitudes, and expectations to complete the education and training requirements to enter into a future career. Students will begin the development of the Student Success Plan.

 

Teacher candidates for the Career Development position should have general knowledge about the career clusters and student success plans, as well as the Division of Career and Technical Education, through which the licensure endorsement and standards are issued.
